Objekt #14 / Max Rosenfeld: Leitfaden für den ersten Unterricht in der anorganischen Chemie

Freiburg im Breisgau, 1892

Arnold Schönberg Center, Wien

Forever eager to learn and explore all spheres of life, Schönberg also displayed an interest in the natural sciences. This textbook from his library, used at the secondary school in Vienna’s 2nd district (Vereinsgasse), is just one example.

Here you can see Schönberg‘s school report from 1890. Chemistry grade: satisfactory. As we learn from Lehmann, Schönberg's chemistry teacher, Cyrill Reichl, lived at Taborstraße 30.

The teacher’s path to school:

In the neighboring house, Schönberg’s mother Pauline ran a consignment shop (Taborstraße 32) since the death of her husband Samuel in 1890.

The residential address of the family was located on Taborstraße 48.
